We are the time of year where students start finishing off school and taking board tests for licensure in certain professions that require licensure. What happens if you are one of the few that does not pass the test? That nagging thought of “I’m stupid” creeps in. Does that really indeed mean you are stupid and that you’re ‘not ok’? Of course not. Shed the negativism. You may ask, what is negativism? It is as pervasive as the common cold, but far more damaging. It mutilates, cripples, and corrodes the human spirit. Those infected by it are broken individuals aimlessly plodding along. The dark clouds brooding over them obscure their vision and cause them to become confrontational, apathetic, sad and depressed. So, how do any of us inoculate ourselves against such a harmful process?

Stay positive. With anything in life, it is all in perspective, so keep it in perspective. It is not life threatening. A self-defeating negative attitude will have a negative impact on every aspect of your life and if you allow it, it will alter your physical and mental well-being. Pick your self up, dust yourself off, and move on. Actions determine future. Do not allow events or circumstances in life to dictate your mood. We all have the ability to defeat negative thinking. Having never failed is having never tried.
